Yes, just visit any of our stores, no need to book in advance. We always have a large selection of bikes ready for you.

Please note: Our online booking system only allows reservations for the following day. Same-day bookings are not available online.

Yes, you can easily reserve your bike here.

If you prefer not to reserve, don’t worry, our XL stores always have plenty of standard bikes available when you arrive.

Please note: If you’d like to rent a special bike (such as e-bikes, cargo bikes, or tandems), we recommend booking in advance, as these popular models can sell out quickly.

The price depends on the type of bike and how long you want to rent it. You can see all current rates on our Rental Bikes page.

Yes, you can cancel your reservation.
If you cancel at least 48 hours before your rental period starts, you’ll receive a full refund.
For cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance, please contact us directly to discuss your options.

Bike Rental

We don’t require a deposit for regular bikes, cargo bikes, tandems, or children’s bikes just bring a valid ID.

For e-bikes, a deposit of €250* per bike is required, and for cargo e-bikes, the deposit is €500* per bike.

These amounts will be temporarily reserved (pre-authorized) on your credit card at the start of your rental period and will only be charged in case of damages or breaches of the rental agreement.

It depends on the situation, so please contact our reservations team—they’ll be happy to help you with group discounts and options.

Yes, we offer a free, detailed city center map with every rental—showing bike lanes, tram routes, and all the highlights of Amsterdam.

All our bikes are specially made for us in the Netherlands at a small local factory—100% for the local market and with low transport emissions.

Yes, we have tandem bikes and tandem for kids and adults available at our shop. We recommend making a reservation, as tandems are very popular and can sell out quickly during high season.

No, we don’t rent motorized bikes or scooters. At Black Bikes, we only offer bikes that produce zero pollution—so you get to move yourself and stay fit while exploring the city!

We have children’s bikes for ages 5–7 and 7–11. Younger children can ride in a child seat, and older kids are often tall enough for a regular town bike.

Ebikes

The range of our e-bikes is typically 45–75 km on a full charge.
Actual distance depends on several factors, including:

  • Weather conditions
  • Tire pressure and road quality
  • Total weight (including rider and cargo)
  • Your average speed
  • Level of motor support
  • Efficient use of gears

To rent an e-bike, you need to bring a valid proof of identity (passport or European identity card—driving licenses are not accepted).

For regular e-bikes, a credit card authorization of €250 is required.
For cargo e-bikes, the authorization is €500.

E-bikes and other special bikes (such as tandems, cargo bikes, e-cargo bikes, and children’s bikes) must be returned to the original location where you rented them. This helps us ensure the best experience for all customers.

Yes, the e-bike comes with a charger. We will also explain how to charge and lock the battery.

 

 

Returns & Cancellations

Yes, you can return your bike to any location, but only for regular bikes.

This option is not available for e-bikes, cargo e-bikes, tandems, cargo bikes, or children’s bikes. These bikes must be returned to the same location where you rented them.

E-bikes and other special bikes must be returned to the original location to ensure the best experience for all customers.
